The following information is provided for riders of 21st Century Steam excursion trips on May 17 & 18, 2014:
(The excursion train is scheduled to "layover" in Danville for two hours.)
Welcome to Danville, Kentucky!
When you arrive in Danville, you will disembark near the historic Danville Depot. From here you can stroll along Walnut Street and through the beautiful Centre College campus. Centre
College has gratiously made their Norton Center lobby available for indoor seating. Food vendors will be present just outside the building for your convenience. Feel free to use the lush lawns at Centre to have an outdoor picnic or simply enjoy the campus greenspace. Vendors expected include Captain Franks (hot dogs & hamburgers), Melton's Deli (brisket & pimento cheese sandwiches), and Lulu's (pulled pork and mac & cheese). Or walk just a few more blocks to check out the colorful Main Street downtown area with its unique gift and specialty shops and local restaurants. You might even explore Constitution Square, birthplace of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
We can’t wait to show you around, but don't lose track of time because the train has a schedule to keep! You may need to return to Danville to take it all in. Do you know about The Great American Brass Band Festival on June 6? It's a blast!
