October 9, 16, 23, 24, 29, 30 and November 6 & 13 (2010)

Come ride the 43rd annual series of Autumn Season trips for 2010 and experience a travel experience straight from the “Golden Age of American Railroading.”

The Chickamauga Fall Specials will be powered by authentic full-sized steam locomotive (with diesel assist.) The vintage train follows an historic route from Grand Junction Station [directions, info] in Chattanooga to Chickamauga, Georgia; crossing the state line in Rossville.  Fall colors are usually a highlight outside the train, while a dining car luncheon, complete with chinaware, is served inside dining car “Travelers Fare.” Included in the day will be two photo runbys and two layovers. A photo runby is where the passengers with cameras get off the train so the train can back up and come chugging by for photos and videos. A layover is a stop for passengers to explore outside the train. One layover will be in Chickamauga for two hours, while a shorter layover will be at Wilder Tower in Chickamauga National Military Park (Civil War battlefield) for approx. 45 minutes. You will enjoy the railroad history and Civil War points of interest presented during the day.
