The "Unscheduleds"

The Missionary Ridge Local offers you the perfect "bite sized" train ride. At 50 to 55 minutes, this 6-mile round trip packs quite the punch. (The 2008 season begins on March 1 at which time trains will run on weekends only for two weeks before starting into a Tuesday-through-Sunday schedule on March 18 and continuing through the end of March. Beginning April 1, trains will run daily on a "full schedule" for weekends and a "limited schedule" on weekdays. Summer season from May 26 through August 8 will see trains running on the "full schedule" seven-days-per-week.)
However, there is a way to experience the Missionary Ridge Local on some weekdays when regular trains are not scheduled.. Occasionally a charter train will run the full Missionary Ridge Local trip. Frequently there are numerous empty seats available on the trains.
When a charter train is scheduled, we'll post it here. Please contact the TVRM office the day before the departure date to confirm that tickets are available.

Adults: $14.00
Children (age 3-12): $8.00
No charge for children under age 3.
Tickets are purchased as walk-up only on the day of the trip. The boarding location is Grand Junction Station (directions, info).

Regular operating season begins on March 1, 2008. Weekend "full" schedule will operate on March 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16. Tuesday through Sunday operation begins on March 18 with "limited" schedule on weekdays (Tue-Fri) and."full" schedule on weekends (Sat-Sun). Seven-day-per-week operation begins on April 1. When shown, "unscheduled" trips are listed as a courtesy to patrons when extra capacity is available on some "charter trains". Be aware that the train will run unless the charter group reschedules. If this happens, the date/time will be removed. TVRM can not be held responsible if a train does not operate due to conditions beyond its control. |
