This Founder’s Day Weekend, join the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) as we commemorate over 63 years of dedicated railroad preservation. With a lineup of special events, this is your chance to experience the rich legacy of the railroad industry. Take in the incredible sight of Southern Railway 4501 dressed as Gulf Mobile & Ohio 4382, along with GM&O Diesel 1051. On Sunday, there’s a rare opportunity to ride the iconic Pullman Sleeper Car, Clover Colony, making this an event for all railroad enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Every ticket sold helps sustain the preservation of these historical machines, keeping railroad history alive for future generations.

TVRM is proud to showcase a unique part of railroad history during Founder’s Day. The celebrated steam locomotive Southern Railway 4501 is making an appearance dressed as GM&O 4382, a visual treat for any train lover. In addition to the steam power, GM&O Diesel 1051 will be on display, giving visitors a glimpse into the evolution of locomotive technology. The historic Pullman Sleeper Car, Clover Colony, built in 1931, will offer a rare public ride on Sunday, providing passengers with a nostalgic look into luxury travel of the past.

Addressing potential questions from readers:

  1. What makes 4501 dressed as GM&O 4382 so special?
    • Southern Railway 4501 is already a fan favorite, but seeing it dressed as GM&O 4382 offers a unique opportunity to witness a re-creation of a different era of railroad history. This temporary transformation pays homage to GM&O’s legacy and is a sight rarely seen.
  2. Why is the Pullman Sleeper Car Clover Colony important?
    • The Clover Colony is a prime example of luxury rail travel from the early 20th century. Rides on this iconic car are rare, so this Sunday-only opportunity offers passengers a step back in time to experience what long-distance travel was like in the 1930s.
